The purpose of SDSA’s governing board is to set the general direction and policy of our school. Though our board does not manage the day-to-day operations at Salida del Sol, it does act as an accountability measure to ensure we meet the needs of our students and adhere to our vision and mission statements. Our board also oversees the financial stability of the academy and deals with

As part of our governing board, the Accountability Committee helps us make decisions about staff competency, instructional effectiveness, and our budget.

SDSA Mission: Salida del Sol Academy will provide a supportive and challenging, personalized, bilingual, and multicultural education for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Our students will demonstrate pride, self-confidence, and mutual respect and acquire an academic foundation necessary to become successful leaders.
SDSA Vision: Salida del Sol Academy will be a school that ensures all students will have a safe, caring, and challenging academic environment. Our kindergarten through eighth grade students will attain positive academic achievement. We believe that children are inquisitive, intelligent, kind, playful, and motivated to learn. We believe that children learn by doing. Classrooms must stimulate the visual learner, the auditory learner, and the kinesthetic learner. Interspersing all three learning styles ensures that all three levels of the brain are activated: the thinking brain, the feeling brain, and the doing brain. We believe that all students benefit from a bilingual education, and that children deserve an education that is personalized to meet their individual needs. We believe in a student-centered learning program. Salida del Sol Academy students, with the assistance of their parents and teachers, will develop personal and academic learning plans. We believe that students should develop a sense of ownership in their education.
